The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appears likely to accept the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) hybrid model proposal for the Asia Cup, but with a condition.
According to the sports news updates the BCCI wants an assurance from the PCB that the Pakistani team will travel to India for the 2023 World Cup. The BCCI has expressed its preference for holding the Asia Cup outside of Pakistan. On the other hand the PCB wants to host the event in Pakistan and has proposed holding India's matches in a neutral venue. India has shown disagreement on this on various events.

According to reports, the deadlock between the BCCI and PCB seems to be coming to an end. Board officials have been informed that both the BCCI and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) members are willing to accept the new hybrid model proposed by the PCB. However, the BCCI wants confirmation from the PCB that they will send their team to India for the 2023 World Cup. The PCB has not responded to this request yet, but a positive response is considered possible.
Despite it being a holiday on Saturday, PCB officials were awaiting an email from the ACC, which unfortunately did not arrive. The BCCI has called for a Special General Meeting (SGM) further on May 27 in Ahmedabad to oversee the ODI World Cup set to be played this year. It is expected that the proposed hybrid model will be approved during this meeting, and the schedule of the World Cup will also be announced.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its eagerness to host the second phase of the Asia Cup. To avoid the heat, the Emirates Cricket Board has suggested that matches should start from 4:30 PM in the evening. The Asia Cup is scheduled to take place between September 2 and September 16.
